SHRI RAWATPURA SARKAR DHAM - A Brief Introduction
|
Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Dham is situated in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh in India.
It is situated between Pahuj and Sonmriga rivers and is at a distance of 100 kms from
two major cities; Gwalior and Jhansi .
During the period from 1960 to 1985, Chambal has been notorious throughout India
for its criminal activities which mushroomed because of lack of education, sources
of income and arable land.
In 1990 a great divine saint set foot on this place at a very young age of 17
with a pledge to start a mission that would transform the social fabric of this
region as well as to spread the message of spiritual living among the masses.

Even though this saint was very young to undertake a mission of such enormity, yet anyone
who came to him was touched by his divinity and compassion and he firmly established his
place in their hearts. The site chosen by this young saint for the dham had a small ancient
hanumanji temple which was in a dilapidated state in the middle of the infamous ravines of
chambal area. No one frequented this temple neither any worship was performed at its altars.
In 1991 this young saint took a pledge to organize a yagya (hindu religious ceremony) that
would heal the wounds of suffering that had been faced by the people of this region for a
long time. This yagya was successful and it made people realize the effect of a pledge taken
by a saint for the upliftment of humanity. As our curiosity gets better of us regarding the
identity of this saint, he is none other than shri ravishankar ji maharaj who is the living
embodiment of supreme consciousness.
Between the period of 1991-95 numerous spiritual, religious and humanitarian activities were
performed under the supervision of divine master. In 1996, maharaj shri took another pledge to
organize another yagya on a much bigger scale for world peace in memory of his guru brahamrishi
Devraha Baba. Everyone thought that it was almost impossible to organize a religious event at such
a large scale in such a remote location however maharaj shri proved all of them wrong and the
grand event which was commemorated as the largest religious ceremony in Asia by BBC London was
completed with great success.

|
In the year 2005 after 14 years since maharaj shri first set his foot at this place and took the
pledge to start this mission, the ashram has now evolved into a dham (pilgrimage) and was
rechristened Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Dham. Maharaj shri says that one can search for knowledge
in Ayodhya, detachment in chitrakoot and devotion at vrindavan (3 places of significance for
hindu religion) however rawatpura dham is one such place where one can aspire to achieve all
these 3 qualities. Any one who comes to rawatpura dham with an honest quest for truth, a pure
and simple heart and asks for strength and direction in any aspect of life would without doubt
get his wish fulfilled.

Today in the year 2007 this region which was once infested with external and internal turmoil has
now undergone a miraculous transformation. Gone is the negativity that was rampant earlier. This
has now been replaced with fearlessness, joy, divine love, peace under the auspices of Rawatpura
Dham and its wonderful mentor maharaj shri.
The making of rawatpura dham is a story, the magnitude of which can only be assimilated when one
visits this divine place and experiences the transformation that has been its hallmark since its
humble beginnings under a small hanumanji temple 17 years back.
